Construction
Stock: 2 part split stock joined with steel springs (DRGM 522689, 1912; DRGM 452965, 1911).
Braced with longitudinal metal strips (DRP 206428, 1908).
Left and right viewing cutouts with index marks, in back for reverse of slide.
Bevelled top edge, square bottom edge.
High cursor grooves both cut parallel to front face.
Shallow rebate in back .
Front, well, top and bottom edges celluloid faced, secured with wooden pins (DRGM 371190, 1908).

Left end riveted steel spring on top runner.
Three eqidistant full length hairlines.

Stock: "386" + scales logo + "A.W.FABER" + ""CASTELL"" between lying castles in the well above the split at the right hand end, sans-serif.
"SYSTEM RIETZ" in the well below the split on the right, sans-serif.
"MADE IN BAVARIA." on the bottom centre of the back, sans-serif.
Slide: -
Cursor: "W" stamped on the front of the top runner above the left hairline.
"HP" and "s" stamped on the front of the top runner above the centre hairline.
"MADE IN BAVARIA" and "37" stamped on the back of the top runner, sans-serif.
