Self-instruction slide rule book published by A.W. Faber-Castell, Stein bei Nürnberg. 3rd edition, has the refrence numbers "N/0912" and "Nr. 1/750" printed on the inside back cover fly-leaf.
Paperback with a distintive red binding and green cover measuring approx 5 3/4 x 8 inches. 69 pages plus pages for notes at the back, printed in monochrome with text and many illustrations. The book has 4, double page fold-outs for models 1/91, 1/60, 1/87 and 1/22. These sheets have a labelled diagram of the slide rule, plus separate diagrams for the stock and slide. The sheets are perforated enabling the diagrams to be torn out and used for the examples. There is also a 4 page fold-out with a large diagram showing how to read the scale divisions. The book is split into 2 sections, one for the "technical" slide rule and one for the "business" slide rule, each with general instructions and examples. There is a contents page at the back.

It is undated with no edition identifier, but from Rodger Shepherd's excellent article on these books in the Journal of the Oughtred Society (Vol 10 No 1 Spring 2001), this is version 1.1 from c1896. At the bottom centre of the front cover in small type is the printer "Pawson & Brailsford, Printers, Sheffield.".
The book measures approx 6 1/2 x 9 3/8 inches and features a distinctive red spine with stiff green/grey covers. There are 35 pages of text and 12 figure sheets (49 Figures) printed in black on cream paper. The front is the title page and also lists- "BY CHARLES N. PICKWORTH, Wh. 192 page hardback measuring approx 6 x 8 1/2 inches, printing is monochrome, mainly text with some pictures and diagrams. Text is in both English and German. Must-have reference book for any collector with an interest in Faber-Castell silde rules. Details and guide dates of all models made, and summarised cross reference of production years and major types. Information on model numbering, scales, OEM, materials, dating, cases, cursors, instructions, company history and worldwide penetration, patents and registered designs, and a comprehensive bibliography.

Comprehensive silde rule instruction book, subtitled "A PRACTICAL MANUAL" inside. The is no publication date, but the preface to the 16th edition, attributed to Pickworth is dated April 1919. Publishers listed are Emmott and Co Limited (Manchester), D Van Nostrand Co (New York) and Emmott and Co Limited and Pitman and Sons Limited (London).
The orange, cloth covered hardback book measures approx 5 x 7 1/4 inches and has 133 pages plus advertisements. Printing is monochrome, mainly text with example and a few diagrams. Inside by the same author are listed- "LOGARITHMS FOR BEGINNERS." "THE INDICATOR : ITS CONSTRUCTION AND APPLICATION." "THE INDICATOR DIAGRAM : ITE ANALYSIS AND CALCULATION."
